Success Factor Two: Develop a defined and continuous testing strategy and transformation plan

True transformation requires a well-planned strategy that is purpose built for success in agile and DevOps environments. It should set out how projects will be prioritized for automation, how change will be managed, how testers and the wider team will be affected, clearly define goals and how success is measured against them.

There are some misconceptions about test automation in that it is a silver bullet. “Test automation is about increasing coverage and reducing defect leakage,” says Worldpay’s QA Leader, Sandra Baker.

Any significant change in strategy and tools requires an investment in organizational alignment, change management and training and a sound test strategy will include plans for how this will be rolled out organization wide.
